Kirsten Compart, RMT
Meet Your Holistic Birth Doula
Kirsten has been walking alongside birthing women since 2015, offering grounded, intuitive support rooted in deep trust of the natural birth process.
Her journey began in Calgary, Alberta, where she assisted with Birthing From Within prenatal classes, learning pain management techniques and how to support women emotionally and physically through labor. She later traveled to Guatemala to complete a 10-week introduction to midwifery with Midwife International, where she deepened her understanding of prenatal care and the sacred process of birth.
Kirsten has also studied herbal medicine through The Wild Rose College of Alberta and integrates this knowledge gently and respectfully to support the body during labor and postpartum recovery.
Over the years, she has supported births in a wide variety of settings—from hospitals and birthing centers to home births and unassisted births. Most of her experience has been in out-of-hospital environments, where she believes women are most free to follow their intuition and connect with their innate strength.
Kirsten is deeply passionate about helping women stand in their power and birth with confidence, clarity, and autonomy. She believes birth is not something to be managed, but something to be honored—and that every woman already carries the wisdom she needs to bring her baby earthside. As your doula, Kirsten is there to protect that sacred space, offer grounded support, and walk with you every step of the way.
What is a Doula?
A doula is a non-medical professional that is there to provide continuous support to you through the intensity of labour, the birth of your baby, and the birth of the placenta.
The purpose of a Doula is to help you stand fully in your power, trust your body, and help you navigate the medical system if you choose to do so, in the safest way possible for you and your child.
Benefits of Hiring a Doula
Doulas can help reduce the likelihood of an unnecessary cesarean. Research shows the presence of a doula also reduces the likelihood that a vacuum or forceps will be used and that birthing parents with doula care are less likely to need pain medications. In addition, parents who hire a doula are more likely to be satisfied with their birth experience and more likely to have a slightly shorter labor. The most famous quote about doulas by Dr. John H. Kennell is worth repeating here:
– “If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.”
